Some serious mojo with this Gibson Custom guitar from 1971 . Definately a Players guitar and one of those guitars that just has that special appeal and feel . It has a 2 piece Mahogany "pancake" body with maple cap , the neck is 3 piece mahogany with headstock "wings" . It has had a post factory nitro overspray at some point in it's life - it looks amazing!
So it has a long list of mods probably due to being played a lot .It has replaced pickups in the form of burst buckers that came out of an R8 . The pickup covers could potentially be original .Other non original parts include control knobs , refret , pickguard , tuners (gotoh) , strap buttons , rear control plate cover plates and screws , All electrics are non original , VIP potentiometers and russian PIO capacitors have been used as replacements , output jack plate truss rod cover and screws . It was rumoured to be used in a studio in Sydney for a long time and set up with stereo inputs etc hence the extra wide output jack plate and extra holes in the body inbetween the knobs . The truss rod works great . The refret - binding nibs removed when refretted . The nut appears to be original . It weighs in at 10lb .
An interesting factory addition is the back of the headstock has been painted black - possibly a "stinger" . Very cool indeed . Pictures help form the description so take a good look and marvel in the beauty of this well loved , well played Gibson Custom . Oh and it includes what we think to be it's orignal case also .
