We are proud to offer this awesome Fender Stratocaster from 1964 with it's original Aus Stamford hardcase and instruction manual .
Originally purchased in 1964 by a guitarist who played in 2 bands in Brisbane . In one of the bands the guitarist all decided to paint their guitars blue and so of course this was painted blue . It's a very avg refin although it has been this was for a very long time so there is signs of age for sure with subtle checking , chips and abrasions .
The original owner also had the "Lipton switching" fitted . This consisted of 3 , 2 position toggle switches - 1 for each pickup . The original 3 way selector was totally bypassed . The switches were mounted in the pickguard . The body was also cut to allow for these switches as can be seen in the photos .
At the end of 1964 the Strat was sold to a guitarist who never played in a band . He played the guitar at leisure each week and he had the wiring restored to it's original configuration so the wiring is not factory . The pickguard was replaced at this time with a late 60's guard as the original guard had holes cut in it for the switching . The pickup covers were also painted white as they had "yellowed" . This is evident on close inspection !
Pickups are original and sound amazing . The neck is gorgeous . Orignal frets are retained and they still have a little life left in them . Orignal Single line tuners work well . Bridge and Tremolo arm are original to the guitar . The decal is clean and vibrant . Includes it's original Stamford Aus case which is in good useable condition with latches working .There is tape around the entire edge of the case helping to keep it together .
The guitar has been set up with 13-56 gauge strings a long time ago . There is 5 springs in the back to handle this .
What tone this guitar has ! Oh and the mojo . Lovely indeed .
