Music @ Noosa is proud to offer this Cherry Red 1968 Gibson ES335 for sale .
It is an absolute dream machine ! Cherry Red finish is vibrant with a couple of marks but nothing bad . It has some very minor buckle rash on the back as seen in the pictures . The beautifully aged binding is intact and just rounds it out oh so nicely .
It has it's original Patent number pickups and they sound just wonderful . The bridge pick up has all the bite you want but roll off the tone a bit and it's warm and creamy . The neck pick up also has tone for days .
It has had a refret and the neck was refinished over the existing nitro with what appears to be "wattyl isolac" which has of course checked over the years which was a very common occurance . It has a very chunky neck which is quite rare for this era of Gibson . It's still a narrow 1-5/8 (40mm nut width) but it is a '58 era neck depth . Who knows? It may have been a custom order at the time . A new Delrin Nut has also been installed . Tuners have been replaced with Klusen Tulip style and an ABR 1 bridge has been installed . All mods were carried out by Chris Melville and are extremely well done .
The case is an Original Harry Landers import case . It has a broken handle .
All in all it is an amazing looking and playing instrument from the golden era of Gibson Guitars .
